We are seeking an experienced Senior/Staff Accountant to work at our corporate headquarters located in Schaumburg, IL.  The Senior/Staff Accountant, under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, will be expected to work on numerous accounting functions. This person must have knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal controls.  The ideal candidate will have the capacity to accomplish tasks independently, a willingness to learn new areas, and consistent performance with a sense of urgency and commitment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly Consolidated Financial Statements for our foreign subsidiaries within Cognos Controller according to deadlines
    • Intercompany eliminations, inventory in-profit, equity method and year-end footnote preparation 
    • Cognos Controller (IBM software) is used extensively to compile the individual and levels of consolidating financial statements
  • Compiles and reports financial information into DIVA software to Parent Company along with replying to analytical requests
  • Prepares monthly journal entries - foreign currencies, commissions, freight, interest & royalties, and accruals
  • Maintains and examines customer rebate program (create, modify accruals and issuances programs) calculations within SAP and Excel worksheets
  • Assists with entering and scanning journal entries into SAP
  • Prepares account analysis, reconciliations and government census surveys
  • Assists with month-end, quarterly and year-end financial closing process
  • Participates in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with JSOX and GAAP standards 
    • Latest knowledge on various GAAP standards (i.e. revenue recognition and leases) 
  • Reviews monthly expenses and is able to identify variances, fluctuations and currency translations
  • Various other projects as assigned plus flexibility in cross training within the department
 
 
 
 
Qualifications (Skills - Education - Experience)
  • Accounting degree. MBA or CPA helpful
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and US GAAP; experience with foreign entities a plus
  • Requires SAP ERP experience and proficiency in computer-based applications, Microsoft Office applications
  • Exposure to global consolidations
  • 3 - 5 years of General Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Requires strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy, good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Long hours may be required on a seasonal basis
